Be Yourself, the Greatest Person You Know

You’ve probably been told to just be yourself more times than you can count. You’re usually given this advice when you’re nervous, worried or uncomfortable which means that you’re not in line with your authentic self.

Be Yourself to Attract Your Tribe
We’re all social creatures. Human beings are designed to rely on each other for survival and support which is why we form communities/tribes that congregate and work together. You will already be part of a tribe which will include family, your social group, social media group, work, school, community and anyone you have a strong connection with.

The members of our tribes can either be for or against us. So ask yourself: are the people in my tribe supportive of me and my direction, am I encouraged to be myself and are they helping me move forward in my life or are they holding me back?

You can tell a lot about a person based on his or her tribe. People are the average of the other people that they keep around them. If a person hangs out with positive, supportive people then there’s a good chance that he or she is positive and supportive as well.

Take a look at the people closest to you. Notice if they are supportive and understanding or domineering and cynical. Who you turn out to be is influenced by who you keep around you. Most people fall into a given tribe by default but what if you had the power to hand-pick your tribe? Who would you choose, and would you be ready to be the kind of person that they need in their tribes?

The best way to find your perfect tribe is to give out what you wish to receive. If you want a tribe that’s supportive then you’re going to have to be supportive of them as well. You can’t fake this so you’re going to have to figure out how to find your authentic self.

How to Find Your Authentic Self
Your authentic self is the person that you are when you’re being yourself. It’s the individual greatness that only you can bring to this world. Our authentic selves are all in there somewhere, they’re just finding it difficult to wade through the sea of doubt and limitations placed on us by other people and our environment.

The only way to bring out your true self is by doing what’s best for you. You know how you want to live your life so stop making excuses and go for what you want. If you want to know what your true self really wants just take a second to ignore outside influences and look inside for answers. Being yourself means knowing how to listen to your gut or higher self and letting go of the beliefs, behaviours, and patterns learned from your tribe that are no longer serving you.

It also means being genuine in your interactions with others. Being genuine means not trying to manipulate people or situations. When you are aligned with your higher self you can be straightforward with your desires, confident in the knowledge that you are worthy of achieving your wildest dreams.

The sad reality is that most people will probably never be themselves unless they realise the influence the tribe has had on them. You have to find your authentic self, not what others expect you to be, in order to move forward and be yourself.

In the words of Oscar Wilde “Be Yourself. Everyone else is already taken.“

Honour yourself and be you!

Change – are you ready?
The members of our tribe can either be for us or against us. Let go of whoever is not helping you get to where you want to be and hold on to the ones that are. Stop hanging out with people who make you doubt yourself and call that friend who makes you believe that anything is possible. To be yourself, you must learn how to be discerning.

Of course, these are big changes to be making in your life. You can expect a fair amount of resistance from family and friends so ease yourself into your new way of being. Your old thought processes, beliefs, and habits took years to cultivate so releasing them will take time.

As an intuitive life coach, I can help you find your authentic self a lot quicker and support you through these changes so you can be free to be yourself.
